Alarm bells should have been ringing way before, ever since anna pulled out the weighing scale machine and asked me to step on it two weeks ago. I was 37kg and underweight when i was thirteen. I've managed to stay relatively slim with minimal voluntary exercise throughout the years (with even failure at situps!). And now..it has finally happened. The OCS has finally caught up with me. Along with OCS has come dismaying symptons like bulging tummy, popped off buttons from workpants, chunky hips, even 'you're getting fat' comments from the dad and 'i think you (your weight) shouldn't go any further than this' from my mum!..and now, the weighing scale needle with a dramatic spring to the right. OCS stands for office chair syndrome by the way.Groan. Mr metabolism rate, i'm too pooped from work for exercise. Please come back. Damn. I miss my three or four day school week and cycling on my free days to east coast park. Yes i even appreciate the countless stairs back in nus now. Sobsobsobsob. I want to be a skinny student, not a fat office woman. Stern note to self: no more lunches from western food stall or $1 desserts from mindef canteen, or buying chocs to hoard in cube. Start exercising at least one weekday and one weekend. Must. Resist. succumbing to the OCS!! *** Korkor: ehh anna how come you have a pimple on your face? (and obviously he was just pulling her leg)
Sigh. Nice to see how a three year old's mind connects together the idea of pimples and me so enthusiastically.

Anna's story-telling time:"One day there were little childrens. They went on the train and are very happy. They are as good as..anna. Then, the childrens became sad. The train went on and on and on and then they reached home. Then they were happy!" The end. The older siblings and their offspring. My first full treat to the whole family with the first official pay cheque :) Pretty davina I asked her to hold up the rabbit ear thing and this is what she did -.- Kawaii!

Has it come to 7 weeks of working already? I feel like life has been flashing by too fast.Wake up at 0540, snooze for 10 mins, get ready by 0628, run down to bus stop by 0630, take chartered bus to work, reach workplace by 0707, collect newspaper and keys, open up office, settle down, scan for important (and trivial) headlines in newspaper, start work at 0730, work work work till lunchtime, lunch for an hour plus, work work work till 1700, pack up and run for bus down the slope, board bus at 1710, reach home by 1800. Welcome to my fixed routine mondays through to fridays. I'd tell you more minute details about my timings especially for my morning toilet routine (i don't think anyone would be interested anyway), but lets just say that if the toilet clock or my watch were to simultaneously break down one day, i'll be in big trouble. I guess i am very lucky the bus picks me up right at the bus stop outside my condo. Some of my colleagues have to walk for almost 10 mins to a pick-up point, mine's just a 2 min run from my house :) And waking up so early also means i get to start the day early and knock off early. So, suffice to say, i can't believe 7 weeks have gone by so fast. Saturdays are very, very important nua days now. And i can't even go on a date with nathan on weekdays now cos i'm so sleepy by 10 every night. Sigh. What happened to my nua 2 or 4 hour days at NUS when i'd end at 12 or 2pm?! What happened to my mere 5-6 term essays i have to churn out every sem?! What happened to the fact that i would always, always have a choice on whether i want to attend lecture/tutorial that day, and that there would be no penalty if i didn't? (not that i deliberately skipped any lah, just knowing you have an option helps though) The grass is always greener on the other side, as they all say. One greener aspect is of course the steady income that ensures my savings go up hehe. Spending habits haven't changed that much though, mostly because i simply don't have time/energy to venture out to town to shop. And so here my self-indulgent post comes to an end. As the The Intern :) reminded me when i expressed envy over her 6 month jaunt to france this coming sept to next year march, i'm here to work and to save up for my london trip in 2010 (if i'm confirmed in 5 months' time). I'll miss you Intern! No more Intern to go toilet together with or talk about handsome scholars or see handsome officers in our dept who come over specially to visit you :)
